Win Monopoly City & Enjoy Family Game Night Courtesy of Hasbro

This contest is now closed. Please check back soon for the winner and for more great giveaways.

I love board games. Getting together for game night with my friends and family is one of my favorite ways to relax. My kids are almost old enough to start playing and I’m looking forward to introducing them to my favorite board games as well. With that in mind, it didn’t take much for Hasbro to convince me to celebrate “National Family Game Night” on Wednesday, September 23, I thought it was a great idea. Board games are relatively inexpensive for the amount of use you get from them and they teach some important life skills. There are the basics, like following the rules, taking turns and being a good sport, but there are others, depending on the game, like budgeting and finance, problem solving, negotiation and collaboration.

One of the true classics of the board game realm is Monopoly. Pretty much everyone I know either loves it or hates it, but they’ve all played at least once. It seems that our friends at Hasbro aren’t willing to rest on their laurels, however. Instead, they’ve decided to give Monopoly a bit of an upgrade with a new version, Monopoly City. Monopoly City has similar game play as the original, but adds a variety of buildings you can place on your properties, including a stadium, school and sewage plants. Some buildings have special bonuses for the builder and/or penalties for neighbors. And, to make gameplay even more fun, they includ 3-D buildings that you can actually place in the middle of the board to simulate building a real city. As a gamer who likes city-building games, that definitely adds to the appeal for me.

In honor of National Family Game Night this month, Hasbro is going to give 3 lucky Quirky Fusion readers copies of the the brand new Monopoly City. You’ll be one of the first to play the new version, so make sure to set aside September 23 on your family calendar to try it out.
