Great post, Christy.

This whole "Why blog?" question is forever in my head now that I have one of my own. (I blogged for two years for my company before that, which wasn't quite the same game).

My biggest question is whether it's worth attracting more blog followers with reviews and giveaways...if that could, in turn, end up restricting my time and ability to write creatively. What's the point of attracting a big following if all you end up doing is writing ads for everyone else? But then again, what's the point of having a blog if you have no followers?

Sigh. Glad to know that I'm not the only one trying to figure it all out.

Hi Christy, indeed, it's a challenge. I wrestle with these boundary issues a lot, because at the end of the day, I am quite protective about my family (though this has pretty much been the case all along). But I think in general -- if whatever you put out there comes from the heart, and is honest and not driven by other motives (as we've seen a lot of these days), then you're achieving something really excellent. -Christine
