Michael Bolton: One World One Love

336x269now-1Lady Gaga… Ne-Yo… Michael Bolton? Yep. Looking pretty hawt for his 57 years, Michael Bolton has released his newest album in the U.S. (previously released in the U.K.). One World One Love contains some familiar songs (Crazy Love, Sign Your Name), as well as some new titles.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, since I haven’t traditionally been a huge Michael Bolton fan, but I was pleasantly surprised. There’s the calypso-inspired “Ready for You” and the more mellow “Just One Love.” None of the songs felt sleepy or overly sentimental, which has been my complaint about earlier Bolton compilations. I could do without the Auto-Tuned Ne-Yo collaboration, “The Best,” but that’s a matter of personal opinion. I’m just not a fan of the Auto-Tune sound.

One World One Love is a CD that I’ll keep around for background music while I’m trying to write. It’s calm enough not to be distracting, but peppy enough that I won’t fall asleep! Besides which, Michael is looking  lovely on the cover…

If you’re a Michael Bolton fan, keep an eye out for his 6-month concert tour starting in September, 2010.

Disclosure: I received a promotional copy of One World One Love from Universal through the Music Moms program  for the purpose of this review. There was no promise of a positive review and the opinions contained in this post are mine.
