Lady Bug Grows Up – Painting and Prepping for the Big Girl Bed

As I mentioned last week, we’re redecorating Lady Bug’s room. It’s been the same décor for the past 6 years, since before Bug was born. Now that our little girl is getting close to turning four, we’re moving her to a full-size bed and giving her room some new personality. Here’s what the walls looked like in 2005, and ever since…

We left the green, but removed the wallpaper border and painted the top of the room blue. It’s kind of a baby blue to mimic the sky.

I had the brilliant idea to paint grass blades along the border. I’m still working on this bit of genius.

I bought a fantastic RoomMates Scroll Tree wall decal from Amazon.com. We’re still putting it up, but here’s how it looks so far. I’m really happy with it. Not only is it cute, but it peels right off. When she’s tired of it, we can easily get rid of it. We can also  move the pieces around.

The owls up close. How cute are they?

Tomorrow we’ll pick up her mattress, and hopefully finish the grass detail and mural. I’d like to get her furniture back in her room because she’s been living without her books and toys for the past week. She’s not complaining, but I do feel a bit bad!

That’s it for now. I’ll post more pictures when it’s a bit further along.

  1. I could make her some matching owl/flower pillows for her bed. Love those little owls. I think the room looks nice… The grass, while I am sure a pain, really adds a nice touch.

  2. I LOVE it! It actually reminds me of the Kiddo’s room in Cali – grass on the bottom, blue sky on top, but we had frogs and cute bugs and worms, etc. up for him. Such a cute room – Ladybug’s a lucky li’l girl!
