Even if you’re not from the West Coast, you’ve probably heard of Santa Monica. It’s a popular TV and movie locale, and for good reason: it’s simply a gorgeous bit of coastline. Plus it’s close to LA. And if you’re going to be staying in Santa Monica, I can’t imagine a better venue for taking advantage of the beach and the views than the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel.
There are palm trees in the lobby. Palm trees. Just in case you never want to go outside. But with views like this, of course you’ll want to go outside. This is the view from my balcony in my room:
Speaking of rooms, here’s mine. I love the trend toward white linens with no colored bedspread. Everything feels cleaner. And the bed was very comfortable.
Love the sitting/desk area with two chairs. There was also a chaise lounge. Plenty of spots for visitors to sit other than your bed.
TV, coffee maker, and a mini-bar/refrigerator. All the amenities of home!
We have the tiniest bathroom ever in our house at home, so I am always appreciative of a spacious bathroom. This one had two rooms. The first one had the sink/vanity, tons of mirrors and light, and a soaking tub. Ahhh….
The second room had the toilet and shower. With water pressure. Yay!
There were plenty of little touches around to remind you that you’re near the beach. I love things like this that make it feel more home-like:
A few more shots from my balcony:
This, by the way, is the Santa Monica pier at night. You may recognize that Ferris Wheel from the credits on Private Practice (or Hannah Montana or Three’s Company or…). Or not. I think you can actually see the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in those shots if you can pause in time.
Notorious morning fog. This is almost an identical shot to the one of the pier in the daytime above.
If you venture out of your room, you can enjoy some outside time at this pretty fireplace nook.
Or the indoor lounge. Note the fog outside. Crazy! It’s otherwise a pretty view of the beach.
Another quiet spot for enjoying drinks and conversation.
The Loews Santa Monica Beach hotel has all of the amenities you’d expect from a 5-star hotel, including a delicious restaurant with beach views, a bar/lounge, a beautiful pool, in-room robes, Internet access, a spa, and a fitness center. They also offer special Loews programs, such as Loews Loves Kids (gear, toys, and programming!) and Loews Loves Pets. There is shopping and dining available within walking distance.
