Run the Rainbow, Eat the Rainbow with ChopChop and New Balance

My LadyBug, much like many kids her age, is a picky eater. We encourage our kids to try new foods, but what she likes one day, she dislikes the next. It can be a battle to just get her to eat something, never mind to make sure it’s a balanced, healthy choice. ChopChop magazine and New Balance have set out to encourage kids to eat a rainbow of fruits and vegetables, as well as to get lots of exercise with their Run the Rainbow, Eat the Rainbow campaign.

The “Run the Rainbow” portion refers to these fun rainbow sneakers from New Balance. They sent us a pair to try out for ourselves. LadyBug was immediately smitten with them, and who can blame her? They generate tons of compliments everywhere she goes. When she put them on, she said, “Will these help me run faster?” I just think they might!

The “Eat the Rainbow” is all about the importance of eating a variety of colored fruits and vegetables in order to get the balance of nutrients they provide. ChopChop magazine is all about encouraging kids to eat healthier by engaging them in the kitchen and they suggest making rainbow fruit kabobs with purple grapes, blueberries, kiwi, pineapple, cantaloupe, and raspberries. Mmm.

To encourage your kids to Eat AND Run the rainbow, they’ve got a sweepstakes going on through the end of May. You can win your own rainbow sneakers, a $400 grocery gift card, and a year subscription to ChopChop Magazine. Head on over to get your entry in!
