Stamp Out Breast Cancer with Martha Stewart & Ford Cares

Me in Martha's Kitchen!
Me in Martha's Kitchen!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of joining representatives from Ford and their Warriors in Pink campaign for a taping of Martha Stewart’s Breast Cancer episode. My family, like so many others, has been touched by breast cancer, so I was thrilled when I received the invitation to attend. And so, I trekked down to NYC and enjoyed a lovely day with the team from Ford, as well as some other local writers. But, as much fun as my trip was, it’s not really the focus of this post.

I want to highlight the Ford Cares program because they’ve got some great Warriors in Pink gear for sale and 100% of the net proceeds go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The t-shirts, umbrellas, neckties, rubber stamps and other great items are covered with beautiful iconic images designed to represent the fight against breast cancer. I’m wearing one of the scarves in the picture above.

The clothes and accessories are cute, but maybe you’re not in the need of anything new at this time. Ford has provided a way to contribute to the cause without paying a thing. For every person that test drives a new Ford vehicle before December 31, 2009, Ford will donate $20 to the Komen affiliate of your choice. Make sure you visit their site and register in order to take advantage of this offer. And, by the way, having had a chance to test drive some of Ford’s newest models, it’s not a bad way to spend some time!

In case you’re wondering, Ford isn’t paying me to promote the Warriors in Pink program, although they did give me some really cute swag. One of my goals with Quirky Fusion is to help promote good citizenship and there’s no easier way than by combining good works with the things you already do (buying gifts, test driving a car, etc.).
