Do Apps Really Help Kids Learn?
This has been an ongoing debate. As kids use more and more technology, we’d like to believe that it is actually benefitting them in some way. In particular, educational apps are seeing an explosion in popularity, but are they really doing anything other than keeping our kids from asking, "Are we there yet?"
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular–Magic for the Whole Family
A review of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the Wang Theater in Boston.
Gift Baskets for People Who Have Everything
We all have those people on our lists. They have everything they need and the money to buy whatever else they want. It’s hard to shop for them, but you still want to give something special. I think a carefully chosen gift basket is a nice option.
Samsung 9 Series Laptop for On-the-Go
Lightweight and thin laptop computers are all the rage, but no one wants to sacrifice performance for portability. I actually have a netbook that I bought for travel, but find it so frustrating to work on that I still prefer to lug along my heavier machine. The Samsung 9 Series is designed to remove the compromise and provide a light machine that can still get the job done. The specs in this review refer to the 13.3-inch model. There is a model with an 11.6-inch screen as well.
PadPivot from RocketFish
PadPivot is one of those devices you may not know that you need until you try it out. This lightweight and portable device holds your favorite tablet, phone, or eReader for hands-free viewing on a table or (less hands-free) perching on your thigh. It has a sticky pad that will stick to your device and to some cases. If you’re using a case that won’t stick, there’s a notch that holds your device upright. It also comes with a leg strap to keep it stable while sitting on your thigh.
iPad 2 Keyboard Capsule Review
I love my iPad. It’s easy to travel with, it keeps my kids entertained, and my husband can watch movies on it. But when I’m away from my laptop, I miss having a keyboard. The touch screen is fine for using apps, writing quick messages, and playing games, but when I need to write a lengthy email or want to do a blog post, it is just plain tedious. Enter the iPad 2 Keyboard Capsule from Rocketfish.
New Sam’s Club App Makes Shopping Easy
While some people enjoy the “excitement” of heading to the mall for holiday shopping, there are those of us who like a more laid-back approach. I, for one, do almost all of my shopping online. It allows me to compare prices, access items I wouldn’t otherwise find, and save on gas. When Sam’s Club invited
Going to Tooth Town
Bug is six and I’ve started asking him if he has any loose teeth. This past weekend, while watching the hockey game, I had to explain the purpose of the protective glass around the rink. We got onto the subject of lost teeth and then somehow stumbled onto the subject of the Tooth Fairy. I
Carnival Island–A Review
Carnival Island is a family game for PlayStation 3 with Move. As the name suggests, the game is a collection of carnival mini-games such as Mini Bowl (aka Skee Ball), Coin Toss and Shooting Gallery. Set in a magical, but long-abandoned carnival this is a fun game for the whole family.
