We’re Going to Disney World for Disney Social Media Moms
We’re off to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and I am so incredibly excited. I had the pleasure of attending the first Celebration in 2010, but wasn’t able to bring the family. This year, we’re all going and I know the kids are going to have a fantastic time. Disney knows how to throw
Polenta Traffic Light Treats with Country Crock
This post is sponsored by Country Crock. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own. It’s no secret among my friends that I love entertaining. I enjoy getting together with friends and family, and I like being a host.
Dr. Panda, Teach Me! App Review
When I’m looking for an app for young kids, I prefer one that is colorful, playful and educational, but with an open-ended, unscripted component. Little kids learn by exploration, not just by rote memorization. fits the bill in that regard. The app invites kids to explore a number of different scenes, such as a farm and jungle. Each one has animals and objects to click on and interact with. Kids can then delve deeper by selecting an educational game to play. The games are age appropriate and include memory, comparison, counting, and puzzle activities.
WorldCard Mobile Scanner App Review
At any conference, you get a lot of business cards. It is never more apparent than at social media conferences. Everyone wants to share their Twitter handle, their blog address, or their Facebook page for more likes and follows. By the time I get home, I have business cards overflowing from my carry on and they end up staying there. Juggling emails, blog posts, tweets, comments and a toddler, there isn’t much free time to enter in business cards, one by one, into my Mac. I try to convince myself to enter twenty business cards a night after I get back from a conference. Yet, the entering of those business cards seems to take a backseat to other pursuits…like sleep.
I’ve looked at expensive business card scanners and have been very tempted to whip out the credit card and claim it as a business expense. So when I was asked to try out an app that would scan business cards, via my iPhone, and import them into my contact list, I needed to check it out. It is called the WorldCard Mobile App (by PenPower Technology), and it’s priced at $6.99 in the Apple iTunes store. It is compatible with the iPhone, iTouch and the iPad with the iOS 4.0 or later. Thus, the price for the app is not cheap, but it is significantly cheaper than a separate scanner. After receiving a complimentary copy, the ultimate question still remained: Would it work?
Healthy Babies: Taking Things for Granted
Last week I had an ultrasound done at a local hospital (and, no, I’m not pregnant). I’ve had more than a dozen done over the past few years with two at-risk pregnancies and various other things that crop up. The ultrasound tech was a student, and it just may have been her first ultrasound on
Is the Path Out of Poverty a Game?
Imagine thousands of people brainstorming together to find solutions to poverty. Imagine a dialogue that moves quickly, speaks succinctly, and works toward change. What kind of change can come from listening to every-day people? What kind of solutions can we come up with? It may sound strange, overwhelming or even absurd, but that is exactly

TogetherGreen Invites You to do Some Spring Greening
I am a member of the Mass Audubon Society and a member of the Toyota Women’s Influencer’s Network, so when I learned about the new TogetherGreen Facebook App, I knew I had to share it with you. National Audubon and Toyota teamed up in 2008 to work toward strengthening conservation efforts and have been working
Toyota, the Prius V, and Social Gaming
I am always a bit skeptical when brands advertise in alternative ways that aren’t an obvious match. So, as a member of the Toyota Women’s Influencer’s Network, I was both surprised and concerned to see a promotion for the Prius V on the Facebook game The Sims Social. On a regular basis, The Sims Social releases special quests that players can complete to receive special in game items. In this case, the prize was a 2-week loan of a virtual Prius V for your Sim.
