Cruisin’ with the Toyota Prius C

Toyota 014While I was at the Toyota Women’s Influencer’s Network camp, I got the chance to drive the new Prius C. At a starting MSRP of $18,950 the Prius C is the smallest car in the Prius family, making it well-suited for city living. You can squeeze it into smaller parking spots. On the other hand, with gas prices where they are, the 53 mpg is ultra-valuable as well.

The car was roomy enough for four adults. None of us were particularly tall, however, so I don’t know how it would feel to someone up near 6 feet. The trunk space suffers. It’s definitely on the small side for a family with young kids (needing a stroller) or a family that travels frequently with luggage and/or gear. That said it will be fine for a single person or couple, and also great for a second family “commuter” car.

The Prius C is sporty and fun and comes in a variety of delicious colors, including “Habanero” (shown above). That’s a car you’re not going to lose in the parking lot! All of the models include Bluetooth capability for hands-free phone access, which is an important safety feature in this day and age. You can expect a host of safety features including nine airbags, anti-lock bakes, traction control, and more.

I think it’s amazing that you can get such a great gas mileage for a reasonable price. That can add up to some pretty big savings over time. And, I don’t think it hurt that the Prius C is simply better looking than many of the other hybrid’s on the market. Toyota has a proven overall record of quality, so sometimes it just comes down to comfort and cuteness. What do you think of the new Prius C?
