Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!

It’s Theodor Seuss Geisel’s birthday (he would have been 107) and we’re celebrating at home with a day of Dr. Seuss. our friends at PBS Kids sent us a lovely package with a book, party hats, stickers, a coloring book, water colors, confetti, balloons, and cake mix and frosting. We also got a screener for the two new episodes of  THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT! that are airing back-to-back today on various PBS stations around the country.  It’s a cute show that maintains the fun antics of the Cat in the Hat while still providing strong educational content.

To celebrate the day, we gathered all of our Dr. Seuss-related stuff:

Baked cupcakes:

And did some Seuss-inspired paintings:

After that, we read a couple of books and the kids went off to watch their episodes of THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT! The day isn’t done, either. We’ll play balloon volleyball later on and a rhyming game. All in all a nice way to spend a day with kids!

Disclosure: PBS KIDS supplied us with some party goodies and screeners of the new show episodes. There was no promise of positive coverage and the opinions in this post are my own.

One Response to Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!

  1. Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! When I was growing up I always thought that Dr. Seuss books were weird, but as I matured I actually LOVED reading them…they are so full of wisdom and advice! Needless to say I was stunned when the first time I eagerly introduced my youngest to the famed Dr. and after the first two pages he ripped the book out of my hand and hurled it across the room, exclaiming loudly, “Read me a book about something real!” (I think he was only 3 or 4 at the time!)He LOVES reading them now:>) Thanks for the journey down memory lane!
