Smilebox–Picture Sharing Made Beautiful

I take a LOT of pictures. I’ve always done it… I’ve got boxes full of 3×5’s and 4×6’s as proof. But now that they’re all digital, it’s easier to share them with others – when I have the time. Smilebox allows you to share your photos in beautiful digital scrapbook-style layouts just by simple drag-and-drop. You can create digital cards, books, collage pages, recipe cards and more. I made this cute digital book to capture the kids’ summer adventures and I can quickly and easily post it on my blog, share it on Facebook, email it, print it at home (or at a store), add it to our digital picture frame or burn it to DVD. There is the option to add music to your Smilebox creations. I used music that came with the template, but you can also use your own.

Smilebox is free to use. You’ll download the software (for PC or Mac) and get going from there. With a free account, you can use any of the designs and share them, but they will have embedded ads. A premium account which is $39.99 a year (or $5.99/month) gives you ad-free viewing, the ability to burn to DVD and more than 2000 songs to include in your creations. You’ll also need the premium account in order to print the designs. Smilebox stores unlimited designs for their premium customers.

This would make a nice gift for new parents who can then use it to share digital birth announcements, as well as pictures of the baby as he/she grows. I’m thinking about using one of the newsletter templates for an end-of-year update to include in our Christmas cards. It’s really fun software to play with.

Disclosure: I received access to a premium Smilebox account for review purposes and will be compensated for sharing my honest feedback with the company. There was no promise of a positive review and the opinions contained in this post are my own.
