Geocaching–Turning Exercise into Adventure
Sherburne Nature Center Hike, Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary Hike), especially when we find new locations that have item of interest like rivers, streams, ponds, bridges, and giant rocks to climb on. The kids get restless if we’re just walking and walking, so those help them stay engaged. The other day, when I asked them to
OK, Google Now… Mobile Driving Safety
Have you seen the commercial where the guy leaves his Droid Ultra in a taxi and finds it by saying, “OK, Google Now, Call my Droid?” If not, you can watch it now.
Kyocera Hydro Elite Makes Android Accessible
If there is one overwhelming “complaint” about Android phones, it’s that they are too complicated with too many settings. For some of us, that’s a bonus, but for others, it’s just plain confusing. When I received the Kyocera Hydro Elite phone as a member of the Verizon Wireless Insider team, I was excited to tell you all about its waterproof capabilities. They are, after all, very cool. But it has another feature that I think is just as exciting: Starter Mode.
Capturing Life with Nokia Lumia’s Cinemagraph Feature
When I first received the Nokia Lumia 928 phone [*I am part of the Verizon Wireless Insider Team – full disclosure below], one feature that stood out as being unique was the Cinemagraph. A Cinemagraph is a static image with moving portions that repeat in a loop. This waterfall is an example, saved as an
Play Nice(r) With Your Phone, Your Xbox, and Xbox SmartGlass
This month I’m testing out the Nokia Lumia 928 phone from Verizon Wireless. It’s a Windows phone, which is a change of pace for me, so I’ve been on the hunt for fun apps to share with all of you. There are lots of great apps out there, but I stumbled across something I wasn’t familiar with: Xbox SmartGlass. Now, SmartGlass isn’t exactly new (it came out last year), but it’s new to me. I bet it’s new to a lot of you, as well. Xbox SmartGlass allows you to pair mobile devices with your Xbox to allow enhanced control and content.
The Truth About Gorilla Glass: A Lesson in Vanity
When I first saw the HTC Droid DNA at CES this past January, I immediately fell in love. It has such a lovely screen that everything looks lovely on it. It’s got plenty of other great features, but I can’t even get past its looks. I would watch a movie on my Droid DNA, and I’m not even joking. Through my role as a Verizon Wireless Insider, I received a Droid DNA for review and I was a very happy camper. Even though I felt a bit like I was cheating on my Droid Razr Maxx, I just couldn’t put my DNA down. In fact, I couldn’t stop talking about it and showing it to people. It’s just that wonderful.
Sleep Deprivation and the Jawbone UP
Lately I’ve been feeling really tired. I’m someone who gravitates towards 8 or 9 hours of sleep a night and, while I rarely get that, I thought I was hitting between 7 and 8 hours. I often take a nap in the evenings so I have enough focus to get some work done before bed. I was starting to believe that I must have some sort of serious health problem because I thought I was getting enough sleep, but was still feeling exhausted.
Introducing… the HTC Droid DNA, My Replacement Computer
I have recently been invited into the Verizon Insider program which gives me a chance to check out new mobile technology so I can share my thoughts, tips, and tricks with you. The first arrival is the Droid DNA from HTC. I have been wishing for a Droid DNA since I first saw it at CES. I have a bad habit of falling for things at CES! In any case, my wishes came true and I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now. I was going to tell you all about the amazing camera, but I’m in the middle of a tech crisis at home: my laptop is dying. Not only that, but the wacky weather has been causing people to lose power. The good news is that it inspired me to mention just a few of the ways the Droid DNA can help you out if you find yourself in a similar crisis or without electricity.
