Video Review of the JuiceBar Multi-Device Pocket Solar Charger

We received a JuiceBar Multi-Device Pocket Solar Charger from CableOrganizer.com for review. I was excited about it, because I think it’s important to have basic preparations in place for emergency situations.  Solar power on a small scale isn’t going to revolutionize your life, but it can certainly help you out in a pinch. I’ve done a video review of the charger with a slightly more detailed recap below.

The JuiceBar Pocket Solar Charger comes with a carrying pouch, a micro-USB cable (standard) for charging, a cable for connecting the adapters, 4 adapters (Sony PSP, Nintendo 3DS, Micro USB, and Mini USB). It uses a standard USB port, so any of your regular USB charging cables will fit. It also has a built-in LED flashlight, which is always nice when you’re searching for your keys late at night.

The JuiceBar has an indicator to tell you how much charge it has, but it will only provide a vague idea of your actual remaining power. Luckily, at 2000 mAh, it should easily charge most cell phones. And if you leave it in the sun, you can get a even a little more charge. And a hot phone.

While you can use this charger just like any of your other chargers, it’s the addition of solar charging that makes it special. It’s difficult to estimate how long it takes to charge via solar power as this is dependent on the charging conditions, but it is definitely a slow approach… expect it to take most of the day(light). As I mention in the video, keeping your charger in a sunny location can help ensure you have power when you need it. I’d leave it on a dashboard or a window sill near your door.

All in all, this is a solid charger that gives you a bit more in terms of emergency preparedness. The shiny stainless steel exterior makes it look swanky until it’s covered in fingerprints, but that bothers some people more than others. It’s not the tiniest charger out there, but can easily fit in a small purse. It’s a bit bulky for a pocket, but you could get it in there. The JuiceBar Multi-Device Pocket Solar Charger retails for $49.99 on CableOrganizer.com. You can probably also find it at another favorite online retailer, so feel free to shop around.

Disclosure: We received a review unit from CableOrganizer.com. There was no promise of a positive review and the opinions contained in this post are my own.
