About Christy
Christy is a Boston blogger, freelance writer, speaker, and consultant. She holds an M.Ed. in Technology in Education and has a background working with non-profits, informal education, and young people.
Christy spends her days writing on a variety of topics from travel to smart home technology. Her speaking experience (covering diverse topics from Internet Safety to how to craft a useful product review) includes BlogHer, Blogalicious, Blissdom, the Consumer Electronics Show, and Engage Expo (now Digital Kids). She has been featured as an Internet Safety expert on a number of radio shows, as well.
Christy has been blogging since 2001 and is a respected member of the blogging community. She co-founded Boston Parent Bloggers as a way to share her enthusiasm and expertise, as well as create a tighter sense of unity among mom and dad bloggers in the New England area.
In addition to her passion for connecting with and supporting other bloggers, Christy feels strongly about presenting her children with the tools and resources needed to grow up as creative individuals who respect and celebrate diversity. From books to games to free play toys, Christy believes in choosing carefully and using wisely.
When not focusing on mom-related duties, Christy enjoys reading, writing, playing video games and watching bad reality TV. She loves travel and is a huge fan of spontaneous journeys, unique side trips and slightly off-beat destinations. She is enamored with all things gadgety from obvious items like gaming systems & computers to the slightly more subtle crafting and household tools. She advocates strongly for causes she believes in from food allergy awareness to multi-racial rights and strongly supports the notion of giving back to the community.
Christy is available for speaking engagements, interviews, and other special events as time permits. Looking for a freelance writer? You can find her clips at ChristyMatte.com.
