40 More Sunny Days
I’ve been putting off writing this post. The past week or so has been a rough one. I’ve been dealing with some medical issues that are challenging me in a variety of ways and then I found out that fellow mom-blogger, Anissa Mayhew had suffered a second stroke. I honestly haven’t been feeling all that sunny. Still, I have a little glow leftover from something very nice that happened last week and I have to share it.
As you know, I had the great privilege of reviewing the DVD collection, Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days. I loved it, but in the back of the small book that was part of the set there was an ad for the full coffee-table-sized retrospective book. I wanted it. I had to have it. I tried to decide if my family would think me idiotic for putting it on my wish list (final answer – 1) I didn’t care, 2) no one would be surprised, and 3) they might have it on their wish lists, too).
And then something sort of magical happened. A package arrived. Now, this is hardly an unusual occurrence around here. In fact, with the approach of the holidays my house looks like a toy store as I sort through the video games and toys I’m trying to review for About.com. This package was a bit different. It was strangely heavy (video games are usually on the light side) and it was unexpected. I occasionally get a surprise package (more every day), but it’s never quite this intriguing. My husband brought it to me and stood nearby, eagerly waiting to see what was inside.
I closed my eyes and wished.
Then I opened the package and there it was… my very own copy of the Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days book. My first thought was that it might have been a gift from the PR firm who sent over the DVDs. I had raved to her about the DVDs and it isn’t unusual for an occasional surprise to arrive after the fact. But no.
There was a small card inside from Sprout TV. I am on Sprout’s “Band of Bloggers,” and they decided to send a copy to each of us. So, much thanks to Sprout TV for what just may be my favorite gift of the holiday season. I have enjoyed reading it and look forward to sharing it with family and eventually my kids. Seriously, people, if you are a Sesame Street fan, you must get your hands on this fantastic book.
