Exit the Highway, Smell the Roses, and Win a Prius

I love an adventure. Years ago, I was spending some time in East St. Louis, IL. There’s not a lot to do there, and we had exhausted activities across the river in St. Louis. I convinced my co-worker to take a trip to Graceland. It wasn’t really all that close, but it was drivable, and Graceland just seems like one of those places you should see at some point in your life. We hopped in our rental car and made the trip.

As we were driving down the highway, I saw a sign for Historic St. Genevieve. You’ve never heard of it, right? Me neither. But I was drawn in by the sign and suggested that we stop and check it out. My co-pilot agreed and our first step in the adventure began. St. Genevieve holds, according to their website, the only original French Colonial Village left in the United States. We took a quick tour before heading on, but it is a memory that stays with me. We also stopped at the Trail of Tears State Park for a few photos.

This spirit of adventure speaks to my personality. I like freedom and spontaneity. Most of all, I think, I like to be open to the possibilities. I think it’s this very spirit that’s behind the Exit the Highway campaign and contest from TogetherGreen. You may remember that I blogged about this partnership between Toyota and the Audubon Society. They are inviting you to make a pledge to to “Exit the Highway” and take the scenic route.

The grand prize is a Prius V, the big sister in the Prius family. It’s a bit bigger and is a good choice if you’ll be needing some space for luggage for your trips. To enter, make the pledge to take the scenic route and enjoy the journey as well as the destination. You can get additional entries by uploading your personal pictures of your stops. Please remember to read the rules, in particular regarding photo submissions. You must have permission to share pictures involving other people and you must be the parent/guardian of any minors who appear in the picture.
