Introducing Johnny Reid

If you’re anything like me, you’ve never heard of Johnny Reid. After all, the Scottish-born singer/songwriter’s first US album is due to be released in May. But I suspect we’ll be hearing a lot more from him in the near future. Reid, who lives in Canada, is a country singer with a soulful vibe. His music, which sounds a bit like gospel-meets-country-rock, carries an uplifting message and is simply easy to listen to. Check out the first track on his album Introducing Johnny Reid:

It’s hard to be down after listening to a song like that! But where “Today I’m Gonna Try and Change the World” is a bit on the country-twang side, “Let’s Go Higher” is more mainstream rock (and I will warn you, extremely catchy!):

I can see this gem on the charts and perhaps rockin’ a commercial or two. You know how I love catchy songs from commercials! Seriously, though, weren’t you singing along by the end?
Johnny Reid is heading into the US market with a different flavor. I’m on board, but time will tell how he does in sea of auto-tuned muck that’s on the charts now.

Disclosure: I received a copy of Introducing Johnny Reid for review purposes from ChildsPlayPR and EMI/Manhattan Records. There was no promise of a positive review and the opinions in this post are my own.
