Is the Path Out of Poverty a Game?

Imagine thousands of people brainstorming together to find solutions to poverty. Imagine a dialogue that moves quickly, speaks succinctly, and works toward change. What kind of change can come from listening to every-day people? What kind of solutions can we come up with? It may sound strange, overwhelming or even absurd, but that is exactly what’s going on right at Catalysts for Change.

The "game" is pretty simple, although it may seem complex at first glance. Someone plays a "card." Each card is an idea, voiced in 140 characters or less. Others can respond to that card by countering the idea, asking a question, running with the idea, or adapting the idea for a specific community. Each time someone replies to an idea, the creator of the idea receives points. As you accumulate points, you level up. There are ways to "win" awards by creating ideas that are compelling to other people.

It’s fascinating to watch the flurry of ideas, critiques, and solutions. And it’s fun to participate and have someone inspired to comment on your ideas. The Catalysts for Change game runs through 16:00 GMT on April 5th (11am ET). Go share your ideas!
