Dr. Panda, Teach Me! App Review
When I’m looking for an app for young kids, I prefer one that is colorful, playful and educational, but with an open-ended, unscripted component. Little kids learn by exploration, not just by rote memorization. fits the bill in that regard. The app invites kids to explore a number of different scenes, such as a farm and jungle. Each one has animals and objects to click on and interact with. Kids can then delve deeper by selecting an educational game to play. The games are age appropriate and include memory, comparison, counting, and puzzle activities.
WorldCard Mobile Scanner App Review
At any conference, you get a lot of business cards. It is never more apparent than at social media conferences. Everyone wants to share their Twitter handle, their blog address, or their Facebook page for more likes and follows. By the time I get home, I have business cards overflowing from my carry on and they end up staying there. Juggling emails, blog posts, tweets, comments and a toddler, there isn’t much free time to enter in business cards, one by one, into my Mac. I try to convince myself to enter twenty business cards a night after I get back from a conference. Yet, the entering of those business cards seems to take a backseat to other pursuits…like sleep.
I’ve looked at expensive business card scanners and have been very tempted to whip out the credit card and claim it as a business expense. So when I was asked to try out an app that would scan business cards, via my iPhone, and import them into my contact list, I needed to check it out. It is called the WorldCard Mobile App (by PenPower Technology), and it’s priced at $6.99 in the Apple iTunes store. It is compatible with the iPhone, iTouch and the iPad with the iOS 4.0 or later. Thus, the price for the app is not cheap, but it is significantly cheaper than a separate scanner. After receiving a complimentary copy, the ultimate question still remained: Would it work?
It’s a Small World App Review
It’s a Small World is one of my favorite rides at Walt Disney World. I love how simple it is, while still being magical. And, honestly, sailing through the lands is one of the best place to be on a hot and humid Florida summer day. When I heard that they were coming out with an app, I was skeptical. But the It’s a Small World app brings the reader on a beautifully illustrated journey around the world. This one is a little gem.

New Sam’s Club App Makes Shopping Easy
While some people enjoy the “excitement” of heading to the mall for holiday shopping, there are those of us who like a more laid-back approach. I, for one, do almost all of my shopping online. It allows me to compare prices, access items I wouldn’t otherwise find, and save on gas. When Sam’s Club invited
Support St. Jude and Save on Great Apps
I love it when I can buy quality products and help someone else in the process. This is one of those times. Ruckus Media is donating 100% of their net proceeds ($1.39) from the sale of every app in their collection to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital until November 28. The Ruckus Media collection includes
Happy Thanksgiving from The Creeps–Free Levels!
If you took my advice awhile back, you’ve been happily playing The Creeps on your iPad or iPhone. You’ve probably finished all of the levels by now, so you’ll be glad to know that there’s a new set of Thanksgiving levels available for free. Battle turkeys, acorns, leaves, a hungry pie, and a mean looking
Applicious: Disney Winnie the Pooh–Pooh’s Birthday Surprise
I have had the chance to try a lot of apps from Disney Digital Books and Disney Winnie the Pooh – Pooh’s Birthday Surprise is one of my favorites so far. It combines a cute story with engaging graphics, animations, activities.
Disney AppMATes Bring Added Dimension to iPad Apps
Imagine taking your favorite iPad app and being able to interact with it using a real-world object. Disney Consumer Products and Spin Master had a vision to take app play to the next level and have succeeded with the launch of AppMATes.
Applicious: The Creeps
The Creeps is a tower defense game for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Tower defense games involve placing a line of defense to protect your home base. The genre gained some popularity after Plants vs. Zombies took off. In fact, that’s when I fell in love.
In The Creeps, your job is to protect your little kid from monsters getting under the bed. Place toy laser guns, bottles of glue, boomerangs, flashlights and piggy banks to help you in your quest. As you destroy your enemies, you can collect money and use it to buy more weapons or upgrade the ones you already have.
