Summer Tastings at Bruegger’s Bagels
Earlier this year I posted about my tour of Bruegger’s Bagels. It turns out that my cousin is the manager of one of the local stores. Who knew? Anyway, when I was asked to check out their summer menu, I certainly wasn’t going to say no. But the stores aren’t really all that convenient to my house and I was gone… and so I’m just getting there now. It was worth it, of course. Their bagels are really yummy.
The big new offering for the summer is the Sriracha Egg Sandwich. You pick your favorite bagel (so many choices!), and they fill it with egg, sausage, cheddar cheese, red peppers and, of course, Sriracha sauce. The sandwich is available all day, but I feel like Sriracha is a good way to wake up your taste buds, at least. I’m still on a crusade to have breakfast options that don’t involve eggs, but I guess that’s a post for another day.
I’m not a big fan of eggs, so I opted instead for their new Morning Glory Bagel. This bagel is crazy. It has apple butter in the dough, plus raisins, sunflower seeds, shredded carrots and cinnamon. Sweet! I think this could be a good way to sneak some veggies into your breakfast. I don’t normally like a lot of ingredients in my bagels (or much of anything else), but these all came together nicely.
Bruegger’s is also offering two summer salads, but I’ll have to go back to try them. The first is the Blue Apple Salad. It has a Champagne Vinaigrette, chicken, cranberries, sliced almonds, and diced apples. Plus blue cheese crumbles, of course. The other is a Chicken Almond Salad with chicken, almonds, cucumber, Asiago cheese, and red bell pepper. It has the Tangy Olive Oil dressing (with olive oil, feta cheese, and red wine). They both sound great to me, but I’ll probably opt for the Chicken Almond Salad because I think I’ll love that dressing.
I ended up heading down to my cousin’s store to say hello, but he wasn’t there. To his credit, his staff was great. They walked me through the new menu items and helped me pick a great bagel for my sandwich (rosemary olive oil!). I’m still wishing that a Bruegger’s Bagels would open up a bit closer to me, and with more parking…
Disclosure: We received coupons to try out the new summer menu. There was no additional compensation and the opinions contained in this post are my own.
